On any normal news day you wouldn't hear a story about the Independence Day Reception at the residence of the American Ambassador to South Korea, Kathleen Stephens. But, because North Korea 'ironically' decided to launch a missile during this year's event you may have heard it mentioned. Well, we were at that reception, and it was awesome! Hundreds of people were in attendance including dignitaries such as South Korea's Speaker of the House, several international Ambassadors and more than a few American Military brass. I'm not sure how we scored an invite, but 'Ours is not to wonder why...'.The swaree' was held on the absolutely beautiful grounds of her residence located smack in the middle of Seoul. After opening remarks, toasts and a video message from Secretary Clinton, our National Anthem was sung by one of S. Korea's most popular singers, Insooni. Then, food and drinks were served in abundance while the Eigth Army Band Jazz Combo provided ambient music for the rest of the evening.
Not only did we feel priviledged to be there among this international crowd, we also just had plain ol' fun standing around shooting the bull with our friends Erik, Lisa, Nikki and Michael-- as well as Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam. It was a great night!
