First week of Kindergarten

Thankfully, the 1st week of Kindergarten went off without a hitch! I wasn't quite sure what to expect after the teacher's visit to our home the week before (they do that with all the k-garteners here) when T and K collectively decided to bring out (and have K demonstrate) the whoopie cushion they received at a friends' birthday party. No, I didn't see that on a sitcom... it really happened!

Regardless of that little dose of two 5-yr-olds' senses of humor (and the overdose of one 39-yr-old's humiliation), T and K have had a very smooth week. They really like their teacher and their new school. They enjoy cafeteria lunches and recess-- no surprise there. K's favorite class is art and T's is gym. Again, no surprise. They have all the usual k-garten classes and activities but also attend classes like Korean culture, Spanish, and computer. They already know what a CPU is. Are you impressed? Confused? Embarrassed?

So far the the kids-- and Mommy and Daddy--have adjusted pretty well to this new chapter in our lives. We miss them like crazy during the day which causes us to appreciate them even more. Likewise, the kids aren't pining away for us or anything but I have suspicions that they miss us just enough to appreciate us more as well. That part probably won't last long, but for now I am soaking it all in!

"Dad, you're embarrassing us."

"When is Mrs. R going to open that door?"
